ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A drive mechanism for a shutter roll or the like is disclosed as including a shutter roll mounted on an axle adjacent a window or door and a remotely located operating drive is connected to the axle for raising and lowering the shutter roll; a pinion on the axle and a driving gear on the operating device are interconnected by means of a flexible spiral cable which effects movement of the axle pinion in response to movement of the operating device. - 17 -
