ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There is disclosed a bag making machine for producing bags from an elongate strip of plastic web material. The disclosure relates to various improvements in the bag making machine such as the apparatus for driving the web material through the bag machine. The apparatus includes first and second intermittently operable web driving mechanisms for driving the web from the rear driving mechanism to the for- ward driving mechanism. The driving pressure of the rear mechanism is adjustable to control web tension between the drive mechanisms. A cutting apparatus cuts the bag handles from the stretched portion of the web material between the drive mechanisms when the drive mechanisms are non-operable.
