A vehicle information conveying system includes a first transceiver mounted on a remote location, the transceiver being operative to transmit a pre-programmed coded signal and a pre-programmed priority level relative to other transceivers and to receive transmissions from other transceivers. A receiver is mounted on a motor vehicle in a position observable by a driver and is operative to receive and decode transmissions from the first transceiver and to generate alerts and messages. The first transceiver transmits before a second transceiver of the other transceivers if the first transceiver has a higher priority than the second transceiver. By establishing a priority for transmission among transceivers, collisions of transmissions from multiple transceivers is avoided.
