A drive circuit has a simplified circuit configuration that realizes the same function as a current source for use with a self-scanned luminescent array. The drive circuit comprises first and second buffers, and first and second resistors connected with the output terminals of the buffers. The input terminal of the first buffer is connected with a first voltage pulse source, and the gate terminal is grounded. The input terminal of the second buffer is connected with +5V power supply, and the gate terminal is connected with the second voltage pulse source. The first and second resistors are connected with the output terminals of the drive circuits, and the output terminal is connected with the clock terminal.
