In this simply and compactly constructed driving machine, damages caused by axle sagging and deformations of teeth, which occur on peak loadings, of a gear (8) are avoided. For this purpose, the drive pulley (6) is borne to be rotatable on one end of a stationary axle (11), which is fastened at a bearing block (3) arranged on the base plate (2) of a machine frame (1). The drive with gear (8), electrical motor (9), brake (10) and rotation transmitter (12) is arranged co-axially overhung at the drive pulley (6) and secured against rotation by means of two elastic torque stays (5) fastened at the machine frame (1). Adjustable damping elements installed in the torque stays (5) enable a load-moment-dependent deflection of the drive (8, 9, 10) in the sense of rotation and thereby a load measurement at the driving machine.
