A drop manhole assembly with sections each having a fluid (e.g., sewage) cavity and a generally parallel manhole cavity defined therein, where surfaces of the sections transverse to the cavities have protruding lips or recesses which fit together when the sections are stacked to form the drop manhole. The protruding lips and recesses have a profile large enough to surround and circumscribe both the fluid cavity and the manhole cavity, so that alignment of the fluid cavity is facilitated and so that a single watertight seal (e.g., gasket) can be used at the lip-and-recess juncture between drop manhole sections.
