ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A dropout correcting apparatus having a dropout detecting circuit for detecting a dropout period from a reproduced video signal, a mixing circuit for superimposing a dropout detecting signal from the dropout detecting circuit upon the reproduced video signal, a time base fluctuation correcting circuit for removing a jitter component of an output signal from the mixing circuit, a dropout detecting signal separating circuit for separating the dropout detecting signal from the output signal of the time base fluctuation correcting circuit and a dropout correcting circuit for correcting the dropout of the reproduced video signal by the separated dropout detecting signal.
