6 A dropper, in particular an eye dropper, with a shearing edge area at the tip of the dropper to allow for the release of very small drops of a precise volume without increasing the risk of injury during the application. The dropper has a dropper insert at the tip of the dropper and a shearing edge, the front side of the shearing edge area being flush with the frontal side of the dropper insert or slightly back from the frontal side of the dropper insert.
