A syringe-like device having a chamber in which a pressurizing piston reciprocates. The chamber is connected on one end to a vial containing a drug to be delivered to an eye and on the other end to a needle or cannula for administering the drug to an eye. Pulling proximally backwards on the piston creates a vacuum in the chamber and draws the drug out of the vial. Upon release of the piston, a spring pushes the piston forward, pressurizing the chamber. Delivery of the drug is controlled by a roller pinching off a section of compliant tubing between the chamber and the cannula, with a design similar to a peristaltic pump. A one-way valve prevents the drug from being expelled back into the vial. The flow rate of the drug out of the cannula can be controlled by rotation of the roller.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de type seringue présentant une chambre dans laquelle un piston de mise sous pression est animé d'un mouvement de va-et-vient. La chambre est reliée à une extrémité à un flacon contenant un médicament destiné à être administré dans un oeil, et à l'autre extrémité, à une aiguille ou à une canule permettant d'administrer le médicament dans un oeil. Une traction proximale vers l'arrière sur le piston crée un vide dans la chambre et aspire le médicament hors du flacon. Lors de la libération du piston, un ressort pousse le piston vers l'avant, mettant sous pression la chambre. L'administration du médicament est contrôlée par un rouleau pinçant une partie de tube souple entre la chambre et la canule et présentant une conception semblable à une pompe péristaltique. Une valve anti-reflux empêche que le médicament ne soit renvoyé dans le flacon. La vitesse d'écoulement du médicament hors de la canule peut être contrôlée par rotation du rouleau.
