DRUM FOR SANDING BELT ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A drum adapted to be coupled to the chuck of a hand drill for mounting a sanding belt for rotation. The drum is of one-piece construction and has a cen- tral, imperforate web integral with flexible flanges on the outer periphery of the web. The web and flanges are formed from a resilient material, to that the web can expand or stretch and the flanges can flex under centrifugal force to increase the frictional engagement between the web and flanges and the inner surface of a sanding belt on the drum. In one form of the drum, the flanges have a pair of continuous ribs at respective side extremities thereof. This drum is adapted for use with a cylindrical sanding belt having a pair of axially spaced annular shoulders on the inner surface thereof, the ribs being adapted to engage the shoulders to prevent axial movement of the belt on the drum. Another embodiment of the drum is free of such ribs and is adapted to be used with a sanding belt which may have abrasive on both the inner and outer surfaces thereof.
