IN THE UNITED STATES PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE DRY BLEACH COMPOSITION WITH IMPROVED DISPERSIBILITY Abstract of the Invention A dry, fabric bleaching composition, which leaves minimal residue in cold water washes, comprising (a) a bleaching-effective amount of a peroxygen bleach; (b) an alkaline builder material in an amount sufficient to provide an alkaline pH and building capacity; (c) a coating effective amount of a fatty acid salt powder; and (d) a loading effective amount of a pre-load agent. A method of making the composition of the present invention is also disclosed, and comprises preloading the builder with low levels of a pre-load agent prior to agglomerating with the oxidant. Next is an agglomeration step wherein the oxidant and builder are co-agglomerated using an agglomerating agent. To this is added the fatty acid (preferred is calcium stearate) salt powder which is further blended until completely dispersed, uniformly coating the other dry ingredients. Finally, any dry or liquid adjuncts are applied, i.e. by mixing or spraying. -23-
