The invention provides various apparatus and methods for aerosolizing a powdered medicament. In one exemplary embodiment, an apparatus includes a pressurization cylinder, and a piston which is slidable within the cylinder to pressurize a gas. A handle is coupled to the piston and is movable between an extended position and a home position to pressurize the gas. An aerosolizing mechanism is included and is configured to aerosolize a powdered medicament that is held within a receptacle with pressurized gas from the cylinder. A carriage assembly is included to receive the receptacle and to couple the receptacle to the aerosolizing mechanism. A first and a second interlock are operably engageable with the carriage assembly to prevent coupling of the receptacle with the aerosolization mechanism. The first interlock is released to allow movement of the carriage upon movement of the handle to the extended position. The second interlock remains engaged if the receptacle is only partially inserted into the carriage assembly.
L'invention concerne plusieurs appareils et méthodes de projection par aérosol d'un médicament en poudre. Dans un mode de réalisation servant d'exemple, un appareil comprend un cylindre de mise sous pression et un piston pouvant coulisser à l'intérieur du cylindre pour mettre un gaz sous pression. Une poignée est couplée au piston et est amovible entre une position allongée et une position de repos de mise sous pression du gaz. Un mécanisme de projection par aérosol est compris dans l'appareil et est configuré de manière à projeter par aérosol un médicament en poudre contenu dans un récipient avec du gaz sous pression provenant du cylindre. Un ensemble chariot compris dans l'appareil est destiné à recevoir le récipient et à coupler le récipient au mécanisme de projection par aérosol. Un premier et un deuxième dispositif de verrouillage peuvent être en prise pendant le fonctionnement avec l'ensemble chariot pour empêcher le couplage du récipient avec le mécanisme de projection par aérosol. Le premier dispositif de verrouillage est libéré pour permettre le déplacement du chariot après le déplacement de la poignée dans la position allongée. Le deuxième dispositif de verrouillage reste en prise si le récipient n'est qu'en partie introduit dans l'ensemble chariot.
