The present invention is an inhalation activated inhaler (10) having a primary inhalation passage (60), a secondary inhalation passage (90) disposed in communication with the primary inhalation passage, and a source of medicament. The primary inhalation passage has inflow inhibiting mechanism connected to a blocking plate (84) positioned to selectively block fluid flow in the secondary inhalation passage. As the user's inhalation reaches a defined rate, the flow inhibiting mechanism restricts flow through the primary inhalation passage, and moves the blocking plate to enable airflow through the secondary passage. Thus, as the user achieves a desired inhalation rate, the medicament is provided through the secondary inhalation passage, thereby optimizing the delivery of medicament to the lungs.
L'invention concerne un inhalateur (10) activé par inspiration et possédant un premier (60) et un second (90) passage d'inhalation, ce dernier étant disposé de manière à communiquer avec le premier passage, ainsi qu'une source de médicament. Le premier passage présente un mécanisme qui empêche l'écoulement d'arrivée et est relié à une plaque de blocage (84) placée de façon à bloquer de manière sélective l'écoulement de fluide dans le second passage. Lorsque l'inspiration effectuée par un utilisateur atteint un débit déterminé, le mécanisme empêchant l'écoulement limite celui-ci dans le premier passage et déplace la plaque de blocage, afin de permettre l'écoulement d'air à travers le second passage. Ainsi, lorsque l'utilisateur inspire selon un débit voulu, le médicament est acheminé à travers le second passage d'inhalation, de manière à optimiser l'apport du médicament aux poumons.
