DRY STRENGTH PAPER AND PROCESS THEREFOR ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Paper of dry strength is produced by forming an aqueous solution of papermaking cellulose fibers and adding thereto a 90:10 to 98:2 copolymer of acrylamide and maleic acid followed by addition of alum. The use of the acryla- mide-maleic acid copolymer allows production of paper at a much broader pH range towards the alkaline side which eli- minates the need for close control of pH and which sub- stantially reduces corrosion of the papermaking equipment. -1-
