ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to the treating of clothes in a laundry dryer, especially to the softening and the elimination of static. More specifically, the subject invention relates to a fabric treating article comprising a core of fiber strands, said core impregnated with a softener and/or antistat active, and means for retention of said fiber strands in said article throughout the dryer operation. In a preferred embodiment, the article further comprises cover means for the fiber core, said cover means being removed by the user prior to use or being removable by heat and/or moisture during use of the article in the dryer.
