ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A fluid-permeable, woven dryer fabric for use in a papermaking machine or the like is taught having different permeabilities in different sections across its width to control the moisture profile of a web being conveyed through the dryer section of the papermaking machine. Additional cross machine direction of different thicknesses are located in the dryer fabric at selected positions across the dryer fabric in the cross machine direction. The additional yarns of different thicknesses are introduced into the dryer fabric at selected positions in the cross machine direction as a part of the weaving process for the dryer fabric.
