A drying apparatus for removing moisture content from a substance to be dried, comprises peripheral wall means defining a working space for drying the substance, the peripheral wall means defining at least an inlet for charging the substance to be dried, an outlet for taking the dried substance therefrom and a drain, rotary spiral blade assembly disposed within the working space and having lower end, at which the substance accumulated on the bottom of the working space rides on a transporting surface of the rotary spiral blade assembly, the rotary spiral blade assembly being rotatable at a predetermined rotation speed sufficient for forcing the substance on the transporting surface to climb up toward the upper end of the rotary spiral blade assembly, and the rotary spiral blade assembly defining a path for falling the substance reaching at the upper end thereof down to the bottom, heating means associated with at least one of the peripheral wall means and the rotary spiral blade assembly for heating a surface interfacing with the substance while the substance travels on the transporting surface toward the upward end; and means located in opposition to the upper end of the rotary spiral blade assembly for forcing the substance reaching the upper end to fall down through the path.
Cette invention concerne un appareil de séchage par évacuation de l'humidité du produit à sécher. L'appareil comprend une paroi cylindrique définissant une enceinte de séchage comportant au moins une ouverture de chargement du produit à sécher, une ouverture d'extraction du produit séché et un drain d'évacuation. Une ailette spiralée rotative placée dans l'enceinte de séchage comporte une extrémité inférieure qui reçoit une partie du produit accumulé au fond de l'enceinte pour l'acheminer vers le haut de l'enceinte en vertu de sa rotation selon un régime prédéterminé suffisant pour forcer le produit à progresser vers son extrémité supérieure où le produit retombera au fond de l'enceinte de séchage le long d'une voie définie à l'intérieur de l'ailette spiralée. Un moyen de chauffage est associé soit à la paroi cylindrique soit à l'ailette spiralée pour chauffer la surface de contact avec le produit à sécher pendant que celui-ci progresse vers le sommet de l'enceinte. En partie haute de l'enceinte et vis à vis l'extrémité supérieure de l'ailette spiralée est prévu un moyen forçant le produit à sécher rendu en bout d'ailette à retomber vers le fond de l'enceinte par la voie susmentionnée.
