Drying apparatus has a casing (12), a cavity (30) formed in the casing (12) for receiving an object, a fan (40) located in the casing (30) and capable of creating an airflow, and at least one slot-like opening (60, 62) communicating with the fan (40) and arranged in the casing (12) so as to direct an airflow transversely across the cavity (30). The slot-like opening is formed between opposing walls (54a, 54b, 56a, 56b) and one of the walls (54a, 56a) terminates substantially flush with the casing (12) and the other wall (54b, 56b) protrudes beyond the casing (12). It is preferred that the slot-like opening (60, 62) is formed between an upper wall (54a, 56a) and a lower wall (54b, 56b) and that the lower wall (54b, 56b) terminates substantially flush with the casing (12) and the upper wall (54a, 56a) protrudes beyond the casing (12). This arrangement has been found still to reduce the effect of the air causing the user's hands to be pulled or sucked towards the slot-like openings (60, 62) but has the added advantage of eliminating any protrusion of the walls (54a, 56a) of the slot-like opening (60, 62) on one side thereof. This helps to avoid clothing, watches, bracelets and the like becoming caught or snagged on what would otherwise be an overhanging lip as the hands are withdrawn from the cavity (30).
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de séchage comprenant un boîtier (12), une cavité (30) formée dans le boîtier pour recevoir un objet, un ventilateur (40) étant situé dans le boîtier (30) et pouvant générer un courant d~air, et au moins une ouverture de type fente (60, 32) communiquant avec le ventilateur (40) étant disposée dans le boîtier (12) de façon à diriger un courant d~air transversalement sur la cavité (30). L~ouverture de type fente est formée entre des parois opposées (54a, 54b, 56a, 56b), l~une des parois (54a, 56a) étant essentiellement en affleurement avec le boîtier (12) et l~autre paroi (54b, 56b) faisant saillie du boîtier (12). De préférence, l~ouverture de type fente (60, 62) est formée entre une paroi supérieure (54a, 56a) et une paroi inférieure (54b, 56b), la paroi inférieure (54b, 56b) étant essentiellement en affleurement avec le boîtier (12) et la paroi supérieure (54a, 56a) faisant saillie du boîtier (12). Cette conception s~est avérée non seulement réduire l~effet d~aspiration ou d~entraînement des mains de l~utilisateur vers l~ouverture de type fente (60, 62) du à l~air mais aussi éliminer avantageusement toute saillie des parois (54a, 56a) de l~ouverture de type fente (60, 62) sur un côté de celle-ci. Le risque que des vêtements, montres, bracelets ou objets similaires soient coincés ou accrochés sur ce qui aurait alors été un rebord en porte-à-faux est ainsi évité, les mains étant retirées de la cavité (30).
