ABSTRACT: The invention pertains to a drying section of a papermaking machine consisting of several drying groups (1', 1'', 1''') with at least one drying sieve or screen (3', 3'', 3''') each, wherein at the end of one drying group (1', 1'') and/or at the beginning of the next following drying group (1'', 1''') one finishing roller (10', 10'', 10''') each, is utilized, which together, or with the drying cylinders (5', 5''') of the adjacent drying group (1'', 1''') form a finishing nip. Therein, only the paper web (2) is conveyed through the finishing nip. In addition to the double-sided pre-finishing of the paper web (2), within the drying section, a connection of the drying groups (1', 1'', 1''') is also obtained without an open draw. (Fig. 1)
