ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A duel channel photo-optical clot detection machine is provided. The apparatus includes: a plurality of plasma sampling stations; means for indexing the plasma sampling stations into a readout position in between a radiant source and a radiation detector for measuring sample density; reagent feeding means for automatically feeding reagent to the plasma sampling stations at the readout position and at a predetermined number of positions before the readout position; heating means for heating the plasma sampling stations only between the readout position and at the predetermined number of positions before the readout position; and timing means for controlling the indexing means to cause a sample of plasma to regain in the readout position and in the predetermined number of positions immediately prior thereto for only a set period of time. This apparatus enables a circular covette to measure, simultaneously, two samples utilizing a single source of light so that comparable measurements can be made of each sample. It also accurately ensures uniform warm-up time for the sample and reagent under all test conditions.
