A method is disclosed for fluoridating teeth using a two-component dentifrice system in which the first component is stable, semi-solid, extrudable dentifrice composition containing a fluoride ion releasable hydrolyzable complex fluoride compound such as sodium fluorosilicate, in an aqueous vehicle in which xanthan gum is the major thickening agent and glycerin, sorbitol or mixtures thereof are the humectant, and the second component is a semi-solid, extrudable dentifrice composition containing a calcium ion releasable compound and an abrasive in an aqueous vehicle containing xanthan gum as the major thickener and glycerin, sorbitol or mixtures thereof as the humectant. The first and the second dentifrice compounds are maintained separate from the other until mixed for application to teeth.

Procédé de fluoration dentaire mettant en oeuvre un système de dentifrice à deux constituants dans lequel le premier constituant est une composition de dentifrice extrudable, semi-solide et stable renfermant un composé de fluor complexe et hydrolysable apte à libérer des ions fluorure, par exemple du fluorosilicate de sodium, contenu dans un excipient aqueux dans lequel la gomme de xanthane est l'agent épaississant principal et la glycérine, le sorbitol ou leurs mélanges constituent l'agent humectant; et le second constituant est une composition de dentifrice extrudable et semi-solide renfermant, d'une part un composé apte à libérer des ions calcium, et d'autre part un abrasif, contenus dans un excipient aqueux dans lequel la gomme de xanthane est l'agent épaississant principal et la glycérine, le sorbitol ou leurs mélanges constituent l'agent humectant. Les premier et second composés constitutifs du dentifrice sont isolés l'un de l'autre jusqu'à ce qu'on les mélange en vue d'une application aux dents.
