A fuel-fired forced air condensing furnace has installed therein a recuperative heat exchanger assembly with a primary heat exchange section operative, during furnace operation, to transfer sensible combustion gas heat to air being flowed through the furnace, and a secondary heat exchange section operative to transfer latent combustion gas heat to the air. The secondary heat exchange section includes a finned tube heat exchanger structure extending between spaced apart combustion gas inlet and outlet collector boxes. The finned tube heat exchanger structure is canted in two perpendicular directions relative to the collector boxes in a manner such that combustion gas condensate formed in the secondary heat exchange section during furnace operation will drain into the outlet collector box, and outwardly through a condensate outlet fitting therein, with the heat exchanger in either a vertical air flow orientation or a horizontal air flow orientation in which the assembly has been rotated ninety degrees relative to its vertical air flow orientation about a horizontal axis parallel to the separation direction of the inlet and outlet collector boxes.
Le présent brevet vise un four de condensation à combustion à air pulsé qui est équipé d'un échangeur de chaleur à récupération constitué d'une section primaire d'échange de chaleur fonctionnant, lorsque le four est en marche, de manière à transférer une grande partie de la chaleur des gaz de combustion à l'air circulant dans le four, et d'une section secondaire d'échange de chaleur assurant l'évacuation dans l'air de la chaleur latente des gaz de combustion. La section secondaire d'échange de chaleur comprend un élément échangeur de chaleur à tube et ailettes disposé entre les carters d'admission et d'évacuation des gaz de combustion. L'élément échangeur de chaleur à tube et ailettes est incliné sur deux axes perpendiculaires par rapport aux carters de manière que les gaz de combustion condensés recueillis dans la section secondaire d'échange de chaleur lorsque le four est en marche soient acheminés vers le carter d'évacuation, et de là vers un raccord d'évacuation des gaz condensés. Selon cette variante de l'invention, l'échangeur de chaleur produit une circulation de l'air verticale ou horizontale après avoir été tourné à 90 degrés par rapport à l'axe de la circulation d'air verticale, dans une direction horizontale parallèle au sens de séparation des carters d'admission et d'évacuation des gaz.
