Compact dual focal length cameras are disclosed having wide angle and telephoto modes of operation. The ratio of telephoto to wide ratios is at least 3 to 1, but is typically higher so that the cameras can be used in conjunction with binoculars to take telephoto pictures that give the same visual appearance as when the same scenes are observed through binoculars. Compactness and increased focal length are achieved via four mirror (110, 116, 122, 90) arrangements one preferred embodiment of which wraps around the camera film plane (48), and uses a single constant angular velocity shutter (130) for providing both wide angle and telephoto exposure times. Compact, single-use, medium telephoto cameras are also disclosed.

L'invention porte sur des appareils photo à deux distances focales fonctionnant en mode grand angulaire et en mode téléobjectif. Le rapport téléobjectif/grand angulaire, d'au moins 3/1, est normalement plus élevé, ce qui permet d'utiliser l'appareil en association avec des jumelles pour prendre des téléphotos présentant le même aspect visuel que les mêmes scènes observées à travers les jumelles.
