ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A weather seal is particularly suitable for use in prefabricated window systems made from polyvinyl chloride members. In one embodiment, a bulb seal having a tubular portion and an anchor portion is co-extruded using polyvinyl chloride compositions of different hardnesses. About 205° of the tubular portion is made from relatively resilient plastic, and the rest of the tubular portion and the anchor portion is made from relatively rigid plastic. The anchor portion is used for connecting the seal to a window sash. The sash can be made by forming a long bulb seal precursor element by co-extrusion, forming a long sash precursor element by extrusion, mounting the bulb seal precursor element on the sash portion precursor element to form a long joint precursor element, cutting the joint precursor element into segments which serve as sash portions, arranging for sash portions in a rectangular pattern; and heating these sash portions at their corners to weld them together. In another embodiment, a co-extruded V-seal has a relatively resilient leg and a relatively rigid leg which is connected to a relatively rigid anchor portion. In another embodiment, a bulb seal is co-extruded as part of a sash precursor element. - 1 -
