Partially crystallized monolithic expanded aluminosilicate characterized in that its dual open porosity makes it superabsorbent to liquids, especially to water. The expanded material of the invention results from the stages of mixing ground glass with 0.5 - 5 wt % of an aluminium-based nitride; oxidising said nitride with the glass, heating the previously obtained powder for at least 5 hours at a temperature ranging from the Littleton temperature to the glass working temperature, and then cooling and collecting the aluminosilicate. L'invention concerne un aluminosilicate expansé monolithique partiellement cristallisé caractérisé en ce qu'il présente une double porosité ouverte lui conférant une forte capacité d'absorption des liquides, en particulier de l'eau, résultant de la mise en oeuvre des étapes suivantes: mélange de verre broyé et de 0,5 % à 5 % en masse d'une nitrure à base d'aluminium; oxydation du nitrure par le verre, par chauffage pendant plus de 5 heures de la poudre précédemment obtenue à une température comprise entre la température de Littleton et la température de travail du verre, puis refroidissement et récupération de l'aluminosilicate. Application comme filtre et comme support de catalyseurs.
