A seismic air gun (10) includes a body (18), a main chamber (32), two ports (48), several air passageways, a shuttle (12), a return device (66) and a firing device (96). The main chamber (32) is within the body (18). The two ports (48) are in the main chamber (32). The ports (48) lie along a common axis (A). The air passageways connect a high pressure air source to the return device (66), the main chamber (32), and the firing device (96). The shuttle (12) slides along the common axis (A) between an open position, in which the main chamber (32) is open, and a closed position, in which the main chamber (32) is closed. The return device (66) biases the shuttle (12) toward the closed position. The firing device (96) causes the shuttle (12) to move from the closed position to the open position whereby pressurized air is released simultaneously from the two ports (48) and in opposite directions.

Cette invention concerne un canon à air sismique (10) qui comprend un corps (18), une chambre principale (32), deux orifices (48), plusieurs passages d'air, un coulisseau (12), un dispositif de renvoi (66) et un dispositif de tir (96). La chambre principale (32) se situe dans le corps (18), tandis que les deux orifices (48) se situent dans la chambre principale (32), lesdits deux orifices (48) étant disposés le long d'un axe commun (A). Les passages d'air relient une source d'air à haute pression au dispositif de renvoi (66), à la chambre principale (32) et au dispositif de tir (96). Le coulisseau (12) va glisser le long de l'axe commun (A) et passer d'une position ouverte, dans laquelle la chambre principale (32) est ouverte, en une position fermée où ladite chambre principale (32) est fermée. Le dispositif de renvoi (66) va pousser le coulisseau (12) vers la position fermée, tandis que le dispositif de tir (96) va faire se déplacer ledit coulisseau (12) depuis la position fermée vers la position ouverte, l'air sous pression étant libéré simultanément par les deux orifices (48) et dans des directions opposées.
