The invention is a kit for converting a conventional Electric Assist Bicycle (EAB) into a dual-posture (upright and recumbent) vehicle that optimizes the characteristics of the EAB's electric-assist propulsion system. The kit is comprised of three bolt-on components: a backrest assembly, a footrest assembly and an extended handlebar assembly which together enable the user to assume either a normal upright posture (for pedal-assisting the bicycle's electric motor) or else recline into a more comfortable and aerodynamic recumbent posture (that permits the motor to provide all of the vehicle's propulsive energy). The modified EAB's inclined backrest is typically affixed to the bicycle's seatpost. Left and right footrests are affixed near the bicycle's headtube using a universal-fit clamping fixture. Said footrests are used during recumbent operation to support the user's feet up and away from the bicycle's pedal crank. The extended handlebar typically includes means for quickly repositioning the controls while under way to provide an ergonomic bar position for whichever seating posture is being used.
