A B S T R A C T A smoke detector system including two projected beams operat- ing in parallel, the outputs of which are processed to distinguish between outputs caused by smoke and outputs caused by other condi- tions affecting either or both beams. By comparing both the oc- currence and the duration of reduced intensity outputs from the two beams, discrimination against false-alarm conditions is achieved.
