ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sofa or twin chairs positioned side by side in railway coaches are mounted rotatably about a vertical central axis for rearrangement of the sofa with a change in the driving direction. The sofa can be held in a desired service position. The sofa is tiltable about a horizontal axis transverse to the sofa longitudinal axis and at each end there is provided a coupling member which in a service position of the sofa is releasable to engage a corresponding coupling member attached to one wall of the coach. The tilting of the sofa about the horizontal axis moves a vertical king pin for the sofa and thus the vertical central axis further from the wall so that there will be no contact between the wall and the sofa or twin chairs during rotation about the vertical axis.
