ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A dual sided pressure sensor which is particularly useful for measuring differential pressures, comprises a diaphragm having top and bottom surfaces with pairs of strain gauges, both on the top and the bottom surfaces. The two pairs of strain gagues are substantially at the same radial position on the diaphragm and preferably near the centre of the diaphragm or near an outer periphery of the diaphragm. The sensors can be connected in a Wheatstone Bridge to measure pressures applied to the diaphragm which result in slight bending of the diaphragm. The bending applied compressive and tensile pressures to the two pairs of diaphragms for changing an electrical characteristic thereof. The electrical characteristic normally changes in a non-linear fashion. The non-linearity, however, for the pairs of gauges on the top and bottom surfaces are of opposite signs and equal magnitude so that they cancel each other to provide an accurate pressure measurement. .
