A dual state mirror assembly includes a housing (1) having an open front for receiving an outer substrate (5) to form an enclosure. The outer substrate has a surface coated with a thin metal film (27). An inner substrate (6) having a reflecting front surface is mounted within the enclosure so that in a first position, the inner substrate (6) is in direct contact with the outer substrate (5), to produce a single reflected image, and so that in a second position, the inner substrate is placed at an angle with respect to the outer substrate (5), to provide a dimmed image and to minimize glare.

Un ensemble miroir à deux états comporte un boîtier (1) présentant une face ouverte destinée à recevoir un substrat extérieur (5) en vue de former une enveloppe. Ce substrat extérieur possède une surface revêtue d'un film métallique mince (27). Un substrat intérieur (6) pourvu d'une surface extérieure réfléchissante est monté à l'intérieur de l'enveloppe de sorte que dans une première position, ce substrat intérieur (6) soit en contact direct avec le substrat extérieur (5) pour donner une seule image réfléchie, et que dans une deuxième position, le substrat intérieur soit placé en biais par rapport au substrat extérieur (5) pour donner une image peu lumineuse et réduire au minimum l'éblouissement.
