A cellular cordless telephone (101) has a first mode of operation for making and receiving cellular telephone calls via a cellular telephone system (103) and a second mode of operation for making and receiving cordless telephone calls on a cellular radio channel used by a cordless base station (115). The cellular cordless telephone (101) automatically selects either the first mode or the second mode and receives from the cellular system (103) when operating in both the first mode and the second mode. The cellular cordless telephone (101) transmits in the cellular system (103) with an output power having a predetermined set of power magnitude steps when operating in the first mode and transmits on a cellular radio channel to the cordless base station (115) with a power level selected to be no greater than the lowest step of power magnitude of said predetermined set of power when operating in the second mode.
Un téléphone sans fil cellulaire (101) comporte un premier mode de fonctionnement destiné à envoyer et recevoir des appels téléphoniques cellulaires par l'intermédiaire d'un système téléphonique cellulaire (103) et un second mode de fonctionnement destiné à envoyer et à recevoir des appels téléphoniques cellulaires sur un canal radiotéléphonique cellulaire utilisé par une station de base sans fil (115). Le téléphone sans fil cellulaire (101) sélectionne automatiquement soit le premier, soit le second mode et reçoit en provenance du système cellulaire (103) lorsqu'il fonctionne à la radio sur le premier et sur le second mode. Ledit téléphone sans fil cellulaire (101) transmet dans le système cellulaire (103) avec une puissance de sortie ayant une série prédéterminée d'étages d'intensité de puissance lorsqu'il fonctionne sur le premier mode et transmet sur un canal radiotéléphonique cellulaire à la station de base sans fil (115) avec un niveau de puissance choisi de manière à ne pas dépasser l'étape inférieure d'intensité de puissance de ladite série prédéterminée de puissances lorsqu'il fonctionne sur le second mode.
