A personal cleansing implement comprises a tubular piece of diamond-mesh scrim, which is stretched to expand the diamond mesh, gathered to form circumferential pleats, heat set in an expanded and pleated condition, and folded into a stack of layers to form a resilient batt (12). A softer layer of hydrophobic knitted material (20) lies against the top surface of the ban with its outer edge (24) wrapped around the perimeter (18) of the batt and against the bottom surface of the batt, The softer knitted layer is connected to the batt by a connecting means at the outer edge to form a dual textured cleansing implement made of hydrophobic materials and having high open area to enhance rinsing and drying. Thread stiching or thermobonding are the preferred connecting means. A tether loop (30) is connected to the implement for hanging it from a support during drying. The softer knitted layer preferably has at least one aperture therethrough.

La couche tricotée plus douce est reliée à la tige épaisse par un moyen de liaison à l'extrémité externe, pour former un article pour l'hygiène personnelle avec une texture double faite en un matériau hydrophobe et ayant une surface ouverte importante pour faciliter le rinçage et le séchage. Le moyen de liaison préféré est un fil de couture ou une fixation à chaud. L'article porte une boucle (30) pour l'accrochage à un support durant le séchage. La couche tricotée plus douce a au moins une ouverture traversante.
