A method and apparatus for extracting a number of temporal frequencies occurring in a fire and false fire condition concurrently is described. Two or more radiation detectors receive optical signals. Temporal components of the detected signal are extracted and correlated to distinguish a small fire in the presence of a larger non-fire source. The ratio at each extracted frequency following proper qualification is compared to the ratio band for fire and an output signal is generated when the ratio at one or more temporal frequencies indicates a fire.

Méthode et appareil servant à extraire le nombre de fréquences temporelles produites au cours d'un incendie et dans des conditions de fausse alarme d'incendie. Deux ou plusieurs détecteurs de rayonnement reçoivent des signaux optiques. Des composants temporels du signal détecté sont extraits et correlés, afin de distinguer un petit incendie en présence d'une plus grande source de fausse alarme d'incendie. Le ratio à chaque fréquence extraite est comparé à la bande de ratio d'incendie après une qualification adéquate, et un signal de sortie est produit lorsque le ratio à une ou plusieurs fréquences temporelles indique un incendie.
