An insulated duct assembly (10) includes an elongated duct (15), an insulation blanket (20), at least one sheet of escape wick material (45) and a tape layer (93). The insulation blanket has an inner wicking layer (30). The insulation blanket is applied to the elongated duct so as to create a seam (44) aligned longitudinally with respect to the duct. The seam is defined by first (40) and second (42) edges of the insulation blanket. The at least one sheet of escape wick material is disposed along at least one edge of the insulation blanket. The at least one sheet of escape wick material has a "C" shaped cross- section surrounding the at least one edge of the insulation blanket. The tape layer is disposed along and covers the seam.
