ABSTRACT A dummy bar wagon is described which is provided with a chain having two dog-shaped carriers spaced therealong and arranged to engage and disengage the dummy bar for loading it onto and unloading it from the wagon, respectively. The loading and unloading operations are effected automatically by means of a device which varies suitably the linear velocity of the chain and the dummy bar relative to each other.
