The dummy (1) for animals, notably pigs, includes a grid (2), to which means (4) of collecting animal semen are fixed. These means (4) of collection are movable, at least between a position where animal semen can be collected and a retracted position. The dummy (1) includes means (7) to detect the presence of an animal in position on the grid (2) and operating means (6) which are designed to move the collection means between the collection position and the retracted position and are controlled by the means of detection (7).
