ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A dump truck stabilizer to prevent a dump truck from falling over on its side when unloading. The dump truck frame is fitted at its rear end corners with notched flanges adapted to engage, when the truck backs up, a stabilizer rod supported at its ends by two spaced pillars. The ends of the stabilizer rod have excentric coaxial pivot pins each rotatable in a sleeve mounted in the pillar. Thus, the stabilizer rod adjusts automatically to the required level when engaged by the truck flanges. The excentric rods at the ends of the stabilizer rod are also mounted for limited back-and-forth movement relative to the pillars and are biased towards a frontward limit position. Thus, the biasing means constitute a shock absorber device, should the dump truck back up too quickly, and also enable the stabilizer rod to fully engage both grooves in the flanges of the truck, should the truck be not fully perpendicular, to the transverse stabilizer rod.
