The present invention is directed to a duplex bag having a handle. The bad includes an inner and outer web of thermal plastic material. The outer web includes a front panel, a rear penal and a handle portion. The handle portion is integral with the front and rear panels and has a width less than the width of the front and rear panels. The inner web includes a front panel, a rear panel and a gusset portion. The gusset portion is integral with the front and rear panels and may have a line of perforations spaced from and parallel to the front and rear panels. All panels have about the same dimensions. The handle portion and the gusset portion may be adjacent one another at a top end of the bag. The front panel of the outer web overlies the front panel of the inner web and the rear panel of the outer web overlies the rear panel of the inner web. A side seam is formed at each lateral edge portion of said front and rear panels and seals the panels together.
