The present invention provides, inter alia, durable and regenerable microbiocidal textiles and methods for preparing such textiles. Such textiles can be readily prepared using a wet finishing process to covalently attach a heterocyclic N- halamine to a cellulose based material or other polymeric material. Once prepared, the textiles of the present invention have a broad spectrum of biocidal activity against pathogenic microorganisms. Moreover, the biocidal activity of such textiles can be regenerated by washing with a halogenated solution.
L'invention concerne, entre autres, des textiles microbicides durables et régénérables, ainsi que des procédés pour préparer lesdits textiles. Ces textiles peuvent être facilement préparés au moyen d'un processus de finissage humide servant à lier par covalence une N-amine halogénée à un matériau à base de cellulose ou à un autre matériau polymère. Une fois préparés, les textiles de la présente invention présentent un large spectre d'activité biocide contre les micro-organismes pathogènes. En outre, l'activité biocide de ces textiles peut être régénérée par lavage avec une solution halogénée.
