GEORGE LOUIS PAYET DURABLE PRESS PROCESS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Cellulosic fiber-containing fabrics are made wrinkle resistant by a durable press process which comprises impregnating the fabric with an aqueous solution containing a water soluble acid, acid salt, or mixture thereof, capable of catalyzing the cross-linking reaction between formaldehyde and cellulose, and then exposing the impregnated fabric, while the fabric has a moisture content of about 20% by weight where the cellulose fibers are substantially completely swollen, to formaldehyde vapors and curing.
