Durable security devices that are resistant to chemical attack and mechanical degradation and security articles employing such devices, are provided. By way of the durable security device of the present invention, opposing longitudinal borders adjacent an information-bearing layer are sealed, thereby preventing corrosive and/or degrading materials from reaching this layer through these sealed borders. In a preferred embodiment, at least a portion of the information bearing layer is fully encapsulated, thereby rendering this portion or layer and the information conveyed thereby, impervious to chemical attack.
L'invention concerne des dispositifs de sécurité insensibles aux attaques chimiques ni aux déprédations mécaniques et des articles de sécurité utilisant ces dispositifs. Dans un dispositif de sécurité durable de l'invention, les bords longitudinaux opposés, adjacents à une couche de support d'informations, sont soudés de manière à empêcher toute matière corrosive et/ou nocive de pénétrer dans cette couche à travers les parois soudées. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, au moins une partie de la couche de support d'informations est entièrement encapsulée et rend ainsi cette couche ou partie et les informations conservées sur cette dernière insensibles aux attaques chimiques.
