ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Dust-free, embedding compounds for the production of precision castings consisting of water-soluble phosphates, magnesium oxide and silicon dioxide are obtained by dividing the embedding compound into two components a and b, component a containing all the magnesium oxide, optionally part of the silicon dioxide and, in the presence of silicon dioxide, 0.4 to 6% by weight of a hydrophilic organic solvent, and component b containing the phosphate, the rest of the silicon dioxide and at least 0.5% by weight water.
