ABSTRACT Poly(m-phenyleneisophthalamide) fibers are simultaneously dyed and imparted with improved flame retardant properties with a flame retardant liquid in which a disperse or acid dye is dissolved. Fabrics thus dyed and flame retardant treated exhibit no afterglow when exposed to an open flame and a Limiting Oxygen Index greater than their undyed, untreated counterparts.
