A B S T R A C T A method of dyeing or colouring synthetic fibres, including con- ventional fibres and split films. The method comprises bringing a suitable "reservoir" fabric or film, having located therein a dye or colourant, into suitable proximity with the synthetic fibre and at a high enough temperature to partition a portion of the dye or colourant from the "reservoir" fabric or film to the synthetic fibre. The "reservoir" fabric or film functions to hold an amount of dye or colourant and, preferably, the amount of dye or colourant partitioned to the synthetic fibre is only a small fraction of that held by the "reservoir" fabric or film so that the method may be repeated many times before it becomes necessary to recharge the "reservoir" fabric or film by a conventional dyeing technique with dye or colourant. However, while operating the method, the "reservoir" may, if desired, be continuously recharged.
