DYNAMIC AND REGENERATIVE BRAKING CIRCUIT FOR A D-C MOTOR Abstract of the Disclosure: In the disclosed motor drive and brake circuit, a brake resistance has a first portion connected to a D.C. control- ler and a second portion in series with the first portion and connected to the motor's armature winding. The second portion and a diode are connected in series with each other and across the motor's field winding. A circuit forms a series connection of the motor' field winding and an ignitably controlled rectifier. The circuit has switches to connect the series connection parallel to the armature winding to drive the motor and to connect the brake resistance and rectifier parallel to the armature to brake the motor. A second diode is connected between an extinguishing thyristor in the controller and the brake resistor. A third diode connected anti-parallel across the extinguishing thyristor is also connected between a terminal at the field winding and a terminal of a choke.
