DYNAMIC PLOW ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF OPERATING SAME (Abstract of the Disclosure) The specification and drawings disclose a plow assembly useful for burying an elongated flexible member, such as a plastic drainage pipe, tube or cable at a pre- determined depth beneath ground level. The disclosed ap- paratus comprises a frame assembly adapted to be pulled by a tractor type vehicle and having a vertically-extending plow support unit. At the lower end of the plow support unit, there is mounted a dynamic plow unit which includes an elongated, generally horizontally-extending base. The forward end of the plow unit includes a plow nose portion having an inclined top surface. The top of the plow unit is defined by a plate member having an upper surface which extends generally parallel to the base, rearwardly from the nose and is mounted for pivotal movement about a transverse axis closely adjacent the nose portion. A hydraulic cylinder is provided for oscillating the upper member about the axis. According to the disclosed method, the upper member is continuously oscillated between a first position where it is generally parallel or at an angle of about 4° or less relative to the base of the plow unit to a second position wherein the top surface forms an angle in the range of 15 to 30 degrees relative to the base. Additionally, the oscillation is carried out at a range of from 20 to 120 cycles per minute with the upward portion of each oscillation or cycle from the first to the second position of the upper member being slower than the downward or return portion of each oscillation or cycle from the second back to the first -1- position. Alternatively, the plow nose portion may include a vibrator or a lubricant release for reducing sliding fric- tion of the unit as it is moved through the ground. For operating at increased depths, a pair of in line spaced apart frame assemblies may be employed wherein the dynamic plow units are disposed at different vertical depths. The following or rear plow unit is spaced to trench at a greater depth than the forward or lead plow unit.
