A method and system for obtaining mass spectrographic data of a substance. The method includes (a) subjecting the substance to a chromatographic process and ionizing the output thereof; (b) obtaining a current mass spectrogram of the output; (c) identifying at least one ion having a fast rising mass signal by comparing the current mass spectrum obtained in step (b) against one or more previously acquired mass spectrums of the output; and (d) fragmenting the identified ion and recording a mass spectrum resulting therefrom. A mass spectrometer system, includes a chromatography column; a mass spectrometer, including an ion source for ionizing the output of the chromatographic column, in which the mass spectrometer is capable of isolating, fragmenting and mass analyzing an ion of selected mass; and a data-dependent, data acquisition controller programmed to operate the mass spectrometer so as to obtain a current mass spectrogram of the output, identify one or more ions having fast rising mass signals by comparing the current mass spectrum against one or more previously acquired mass spectra of the output, and fragmenting of said identified ions and recording a mass spectrum resulting therefrom.
La présente invention a trait à un procédé et un système permettant l'obtention de données de spectrographie de masse d'une substance. Le procédé comprend : (a) le traitement chromatographique de la substance et l'ionisation de la sortie ; (b) l'obtention d'un spectrogramme de masse courant de la sortie ; (c) l'identification d'au moins un ion présentant un signal de masse à élévation rapide par la comparaison du spectre de masse obtenu à l'étape (b) à un ou plusieurs spectres de masse de sortie obtenus précédemment; et (d) la fragmentation de l'ion identifié et l'enregistrement d'un spectre à partir de celui-ci. Un système de spectromètre de masse comporte une colonne de chromatographie ; un spectromètre de masse, comprenant une source d'ions pour l'ionisation la sortie de la colonne de chromatographie, dans lequel le spectromètre de masse est apte à l'isolement, la fragmentation et l'analyse de masse d'un ion de masse choisi; et un contrôleur d'acquisition de données dépendant de données programmé à opérer le spectromètre de masse en vue de l'obtention d'un spectrogramme de la sortie, de l'identification d'un ou des ions présentant des signaux de masse à grande élévation rapide par la comparaison du spectre de masse courant avec un ou plusieurs spectres de masse précédemment obtenus de la sortie, et la fragmentation desdits ions identifiés et l'enregistrement du spectre de masse qui en est dérivé.
