A dynamic table/shield apparatus (230) contains a movable treatment table (204) and at least one shielding block (202) which is movable relative to the table (204). The apparatus (230) effects total body irradiation treatment of a body disposed on the table (204) while completely shielding, throughout the treatment time, a midplane of a predetermined body part from a radiation beam (212) emitted from a radiation source (208) during the treatment. During the treatment the table (204) and body are moved in a first direction at a first velocity V1 through a radiation field, and the shielding block (202) is moved relative to the table (204) at a second velocity V2 in a second direction opposite of the first direction. The second velocity is equal to (V1)(b/a), wherein "V1" is the first velocity, "b" is the perpendicular distance between the shielding block (202) and the midplane of the body part, and "a" is the perpendicular distance between the midplane of the body part and the radiation source (208). The apparatus (230) preferably further contains a movable verification film component (214) for confirming the accuracy of the shielding of the predetermined body part.
Cette invention se rapporte à un appareil à écran de blindage/table dynamique (230) qui comprend une table de traitement mobile (204) et au moins un bloc de blindage (202) qui est mobile par rapport à la table (204). Cet appareil (230) soumet un sujet à un traitement d'irradiation totale du corps en le disposant sur la table (204), tout en protégeant complètement, pendante toute la durée du traitement, un plan médian d'une partie prédéterminée du corps contre le faisceau d'irradiation (212) émis depuis une source d'irradiation (208) pendant le traitement. Pendant le traitement, la table (204) et le corps du sujet sont déplacés dans une première direction à une première vitesse (V1) dans un champ d'irradiation, et le bloc de blindage (202) est déplacé par rapport à la table (204) à une seconde vitesse (V2) dans une seconde direction opposée à la première direction. La seconde vitesse est égale à (V1)(b/a), où "V1" représente la première vitesse, "b" représente la distance perpendiculaire entre le bloc de blindage (202) et le plan médian de la partie du corps en question, et "a" représente la distance perpendiculaire entre le plan médian de la partie du corps en question et la source d'irradiation (208). Cet appareil (230) comprend de préférence également un composant à film de vérification mobile (214) servant à confirmer la précision du blindage de la partie prédéterminée du corps du sujet.
