The present invention generally relates to bone fixation devices and methods for promoting arthrodesis of bone defects. The bone fixation devices can provide sufficient support to the bone defect while allowing bone ingrowth and minimizing the risk to stress shield and/or pseudo-arthrodesis. The bone fixation devices include a degradable component that allows the device to gradually transfer the load from the supporting member to the growing bone structure in vivo.
La présente invention concerne, de manière générale, des dispositifs de fixation osseuse et des procédés destinés à favoriser l'arthrodèse de défauts osseux. Lesdits dispositifs de fixation d'os peuvent assurer un support suffisant pour le défaut osseux tout en permettant une interposition osseuse et en réduisant au minimum le risque d'effet <= bouclier anti-contraintes >= et/ou de pseudo-arthrodèse. Les dispositifs de fixation osseuse comprennent un composant dégradable qui permet au dispositif de transférer progressivement la charge de l'élément de support à la structure osseuse en cours de croissance in vivo.
